Majority of the transactions conducted are based on credit. People use their credit card more because of the convenience and it allows people to purchase things or services even if they don’t have ready cash at hand. It’s more common for people to carry their credit card than cash. Many stores accept credit cards. If you are just starting out, you should consider about credit card processing services . It allows people to have certain flexibility in their method of payment, purchasing becomes readily accessible to them. Once customers have that flexibility, your cash flow and sales would increase.
Credit card processing services work this way: when somebody uses a credit card to pay, the cashier swipes the credit card into a machine or a point of sale terminal. When that is done, information from the credit card and about the transaction is transferred to the gateway processor. Your transaction can either be approved or rejected. The transaction is rejected if the customer does not have sufficient funds in his account or s/he has reached his/her credit limit. If the transaction is rejected, nothing happens and the transaction will not be credited against your account.
Once approved, the merchant is sent an authorization code. If the transaction is accepted, the cashier reenters the transaction using the gateway processor. Once that is done, the data is logged and the transaction is credited against the cardholder’s account. When the transaction is completed, receipts are printed out from the Point of Service terminal and the customer signs those receipts and keeps a copy for himself while the merchant keeps another copy of the receipt.
On the part of the customer, the transaction is already done but for the merchant, there is something else to do. When the store is closed, the merchant needs to submit the final request for the credit transactions. Accounts are settled and merchants can see the response through the terminal. The amount deducted against the customer’s account will be credited to the merchant’s bank account.
The credit card processing company will send the merchant a statement that puts down the transactions done for the month. Credit card processing companies also provide services for online shops. They provide merchants with software that will help them transact business without the help of the Point of Service terminal since these online shops can only get the credit card number from their customers. |
